Another Europe-Born Striker Agrees To Play For Super Eagles

According to an exclusive report by OwnGoalNigeria on Friday, October 23, 2026, another Europe-born striker, Jay Enem, has agreed to play for the Super Eagles after the Bologna forward reportedly became the subject of discussions involving head coach Eric Chelle and the player’s representatives.

Enem was born in the Netherlands to Nigerian parents and is eligible to represent the three-time African champions at international level.

The report stated that the 23-year-old’s representative had contacted Chelle, who has identified the striker as a player to be monitored ahead of a possible invitation to the national team.

Enem’s emergence comes after George Ilenikhena opted to represent Nigeria at senior international level, with the Super Eagles continuing to explore options to strengthen their attacking department.

The Bologna forward joined the Italian Serie A club from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade during the summer transfer window.

He has reportedly made an encouraging start to life in Italy, including scoring against Lecce earlier this month.

His performances and Nigerian heritage have brought him into the conversation as a possible attacking option for Chelle, who also oversees Nigeria’s under-23 national team.

However, the report indicates that Enem is still being considered for further scouting.

Bologna signed Enem permanently from Red Star Belgrade on September 1, 2026.

Born in Amsterdam in 2003, the centre-forward developed through the youth systems of AFC, AZ Alkmaar, and Ajax before making his professional debut with Jong Ajax in March 2022.

He subsequently moved to Italy to join Venezia and gained further experience through loan spells at Vis Pesaro in Italy and Ethnikos Achna in Cyprus.

He later continued his development with Omonia 29M before joining OFK Belgrade in Serbia in the summer of 2025.

Enem made an impression at OFK Belgrade, scoring 10 goals in 17 league appearances during the first half of the season.

His performances attracted the attention of Red Star Belgrade, who signed him in January 2026 before Bologna secured his services.

Bologna described the striker as a centre-forward who combines physical strength with a strong presence in the penalty area and the ability to exploit space behind opposing defences.
