According to a report by BBC Sport on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Paris Saint-Germain claimed a commanding 4-2 victory over Barcelona in their UEFA Champions League encounter, delivering an impressive attacking performance against the Spanish side.

Desire Doue, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz were among the goalscorers for the French champions, while Barcelona responded through Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal but ultimately fell short.

PSG made an aggressive start to the contest and created several dangerous chances during the opening minutes. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia came close to scoring in the second minute when his effort struck the post, while Ousmane Dembele and Doue also forced Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia into action. Barcelona attempted to respond through Pedri and Yamal, although neither could find the breakthrough.

The hosts eventually took the lead in the 38th minute. Joao Neves picked out Doue with an accurate pass, allowing the forward to unleash a powerful shot beyond Garcia and give PSG the advantage. Barcelona looked for an equaliser before half-time, but Fabian Ruiz was unable to capitalise on his opportunities.

Barcelona were forced to make a first-half change after Dani Olmo suffered an injury, with Fermin Lopez coming on in his place. The substitute made an immediate impact after the restart, helping the visitors draw level in the 55th minute. Fermin delivered the pass that found Espart inside the penalty area, and the young defender calmly finished into the bottom-right corner.

PSG continued to threaten as Achraf Hakimi and Kvaratskhelia looked to break through Barcelona’s defensive line. However, the home side also suffered injury setbacks, with captain Marquinhos and Kvaratskhelia both leaving the pitch.

Barcelona introduced Gavi, Rodri and Karim Adeyemi as they attempted to regain control of the match. Gavi nearly put the visitors ahead in the 61st minute, but goalkeeper Matvey Safonov produced an excellent save to deny him from close range.

PSG restored their advantage in the 72nd minute when Lucas Hernandez rose above the Barcelona defence to meet Doue’s corner, directing a powerful header into the top-right corner.

Barcelona refused to give up and levelled the score once again seven minutes later. Yamal produced an impressive individual run before finishing accurately to make it 2-2 and give the visitors renewed hope of securing a positive result.

However, PSG responded almost immediately. Vitinha collected the ball outside the penalty area in the 81st minute and unleashed a superb long-range effort to put the hosts back in front.

Ruiz then sealed the victory in the 86th minute after Hakimi set him up in front of an unguarded goal, leaving Barcelona with little time to mount another comeback.

Despite pushing forward during the closing stages, Barcelona were unable to find another goal as PSG protected their advantage until the final whistle.

The 4-2 result handed PSG an important Champions League victory, while Barcelona were left to reflect on defensive weaknesses that proved costly despite their determination to fight back on two occasions.
