According to a report by footballTransfers on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Arsenal are reportedly tracking Barcelona youngster Xavi Espart, who has indicated he is open to a move to the Premier League.
The 19-year-old has made 14 appearances for Hansi Flick’s side and is attracting interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool, according to TeamTalk.
Barcelona are keen to keep him, and reports suggest his release clause is at least €100 million.
Espart strengthened his reputation during Barcelona’s 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
Starting at right-back, he defended effectively against Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and scored Barcelona’s opening goal after a forward run. He has now scored twice this season and provided two assists.
Spanish outlet AS praised his performance, highlighting his defensive work and attacking contribution. Espart can play on either flank, adding to his appeal for clubs seeking a versatile defender.
Espart is contracted to Barcelona until 2030, and the club are reportedly unwilling to consider offers.
However, a club that meets his release clause could still pursue a deal. The exact figure has not been confirmed, though it is widely reported to exceed €100 million.
Arsenal’s interest may grow if Riccardo Calafiori attracts a major offer from Real Madrid. Should the Italian leave, Espart could be one option to fill the gap.
The teenager has shown promise, but he remains inexperienced at senior level. Signing him would be a significant investment and persuading Barcelona to part with one of their emerging talents could prove difficult.
