EPL Table After Chelsea Won 2:0

According to a report by Sky Sports on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Chelsea continued their push for a place among the Premier League's leading teams after securing an impressive 2-0 victory over Everton, with Portuguese international Pedro Neto producing a match-winning performance.

The encounter at Hill Dickinson Stadium saw Chelsea overcome a difficult first half before scoring twice after the interval to claim maximum points. The victory lifted Xabi Alonso's side into fourth position in the Premier League standings, keeping them firmly involved in the battle for Champions League qualification.

Both teams struggled to find a breakthrough during the opening 45 minutes, although Chelsea created several promising opportunities. Moises Caicedo came particularly close to scoring when his powerful effort struck the crossbar.

However, the visitors needed just 43 seconds after the restart to take the lead. Jorrel Hato delivered an excellent pass into the penalty area, allowing Neto to finish past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Portuguese winger completed his impressive performance with another goal in the 90th minute, taking advantage of a loose ball following Jordan Henderson's blocked free kick.

Chelsea's victory was particularly significant because it ended Everton's unbeaten beginning to the league campaign. The Blues also recorded their first Premier League clean sheet since January, although goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez suffered a worrying injury during the encounter.

Following Saturday's Premier League matches, Manchester City maintained their position at the summit with 21 points from seven matches. The defending champions have enjoyed an outstanding start, winning every league encounter and establishing a six-point advantage over second-placed Arsenal.

Arsenal remain second with 15 points from six games, while Brighton occupy third position with 13 points and an impressive goal difference of plus 13.

Chelsea sit fourth with 13 points after seven matches, having registered four victories, one draw and two defeats. Their goal difference stands at plus four.

Liverpool occupy fifth position with 12 points following their dramatic 2-1 comeback victory against Brentford.

Brentford are sixth with 10 points, while Everton have dropped to seventh position with the same number of points following their defeat against Chelsea.

Leeds United remain eighth with nine points, followed by Hull City in ninth and Ipswich Town in tenth, with both clubs also collecting nine points.

Newcastle United occupy eleventh position with eight points, while Aston Villa are twelfth with the same number of points after securing a narrow victory at St James' Park.

Crystal Palace sit thirteenth with seven points, while Manchester United occupy fourteenth position with six points from six matches.

Coventry City are fifteenth with six points, followed by Fulham and Nottingham Forest, who have five points each.

Sunderland occupy eighteenth position with four points, while Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur remain nineteenth and twentieth respectively, with three points each.

Chelsea's latest victory has increased the pressure on the teams competing for European qualification, particularly Liverpool, Brentford and Everton.

Despite moving into fourth position, Alonso's men remain eight points behind Manchester City, highlighting the challenge facing Chelsea if they intend to compete for the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Brighton remain ahead of Chelsea, although both clubs have played one fewer match.

Manchester United will have an opportunity to improve their position when they face Leeds United on Sunday, while Arsenal will also be looking to close the gap on Manchester City when they travel to Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea's next Premier League assignment will be against Tottenham Hotspur on October 24, with the Blues hoping to extend their winning momentum and strengthen their position among the league's top four.

The latest standings underline Manchester City's early dominance, but Chelsea's victory over Everton has added further excitement to the developing battle for Champions League places.
