Per a report from Football London dated Monday, October 19, 2026, Antoine Semenyo's eight-week absence due to a knee injury has been a significant blow for Manchester City, as he will be sidelined for several key fixtures, including the Premier League clash with Arsenal.
The winger began the 2026–27 campaign impressively, featuring in six matches while scoring five goals and providing one assist. Sadly, he sustained an injury during City's latest match against Ipswich Town, which has interrupted his momentum.
Manager Enzo Maresca was concerned about how serious the situation might be after Semenyo suffered the problem following his introduction as a substitute. Later fears that the injury could be more severe than the doctors had determined proved to be unfounded.
Speaking after the scan, Maresca said, "In the first moment, we expected a worst injury." We will feel more reassured after yesterday's biopsy. Once eight weeks have passed, he will seem like a different player when he makes his return in December.
The City manager was understandably frustrated to lose Semenyo at such a vital point in the season, particularly since it would reduce his team's attacking options.
Semenyo's injury is expected to keep him out of Manchester City's Premier League fixture against Arsenal on November 29. With these two title contenders facing off, the Gunners could hold an advantage because of his absence.
His recovery time will determine whether he also misses league games against Chelsea, Leeds United, Fulham, Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham.
The winger will additionally be unavailable for City's League Cup tie with Brighton and several Champions League matches against RB Leipzig, Napoli, AEK Athens, and Barcelona.
Having established himself as a key component of City's attack early this season, Semenyo's absence during a critical run of fixtures represents a major setback.
Maresca will have the winger available again in December, though the exact timing of his return depends on how well he recovers.
With a pivotal stretch of domestic and European football ahead, Manchester City will be hoping he makes a full recovery as soon as possible.
