According to a report by BBC SPORT on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Manchester United suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Como in their Champions League clash, with Nico Paz leading the Italian side to an impressive victory.
The midfielder scored twice, while Anastasios Douvikas and Jacobo Ramon also found the net to punish Michael Carrick's side.
Como took the lead just two minutes into the contest. Paz collected the ball outside the penalty area and fired a superb shot into the top-left corner. Lucas Da Cunha provided the assist, giving the hosts an early advantage.
Manchester United attempted to respond, with Diogo Dalot missing a promising opportunity before Harry Maguire headed narrowly wide from a well-delivered cross. Senne Lammens also kept United in the contest with an excellent save to deny Martin Baturina.
Despite enjoying spells of possession, United struggled to create clear-cut chances. Como remained dangerous going forward and doubled their advantage four minutes into the second half. Paz played a precise through ball to Douvikas, who calmly finished into the right side of the net in the 49th minute.
United's problems deepened eight minutes later when Paz capitalised on a defensive mistake to score his second goal of the evening. The midfielder finished from close range, leaving the visitors with a difficult task.
Carrick attempted to change the course of the match by introducing Amad Diallo and Carlos Baleba at half-time. However, the substitutions failed to prevent Como from extending their lead.
Ramon made it 4-0 in the 76th minute, rising above the United defence to head Kaiki's excellent cross into the bottom-left corner. The goal highlighted Como's attacking efficiency and United's defensive struggles.
The visitors continued searching for a consolation goal. Amad tested goalkeeper Jean Butez with a powerful effort, while Bryan Mbeumo fired narrowly wide from the edge of the penalty area.
United finally found the net in stoppage time. Amad delivered a cross into the box, and substitute Joshua Zirkzee finished into the middle of the net. VAR checked a possible offside before confirming the goal.
However, the late strike offered little comfort as United suffered a heavy defeat, with Como's clinical finishing proving decisive.
