According to a report by GOAL on Friday October 16, 2026, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana suffered another difficult moment during his loan spell at Trabzonspor after conceding directly from a corner in the Turkish side's UEFA Conference League clash against KuPS on Thursday night.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper was caught off guard in the 54th minute when Petteri Pennanen delivered an in-swinging corner that travelled through the penalty area before finding its way into the net at the far post. The unexpected goal reduced Trabzonspor's advantage after they had established a commanding 3-0 lead by the 47th minute.
Onana was left on the ground in disbelief as his team-mates returned to the centre circle. The mistake quickly attracted attention, adding to the scrutiny surrounding the goalkeeper as he looks to rebuild his confidence away from Old Trafford.
However, the former Inter Milan shot-stopper responded positively shortly afterwards when KuPS were awarded a penalty. Onana dived to his right to save the spot-kick, while the rebound was sent over the crossbar, preventing the visitors from gaining further momentum.
Trabzonspor's attacking quality ultimately helped them maintain control of the contest. Paul Onuachu opened the scoring, while Franculino Dju also made a significant contribution as the Turkish side continued to threaten their opponents.
Despite his penalty-saving heroics, the corner-kick error will raise fresh questions about Onana's consistency, particularly when dealing with deliveries into the box. Goalkeepers are often judged on their ability to command their penalty areas, making such mistakes especially costly.
Onana is now in his second season away from Manchester United and will be eager to put the incident behind him as he seeks regular playing time and improved performances in Turkey.
