Spanish League Table After Friday’s Fixture

According to a report by BBC Sport on Friday, October 16, 2026, Deportivo La Coruna were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Levante after Daniel Requena scored a late equaliser in an entertaining encounter.

Bil Nsongo put Deportivo ahead in the second half, but Requena struck in the 82nd minute to earn the visitors a valuable point.

Both teams made an energetic start, with each side looking to take control of the match. Levante created several attacking opportunities, while Deportivo relied on quick passing combinations and forward runs to trouble their opponents.

Mario Soriano tested Levante goalkeeper Mathew Ryan in the 11th minute, but the Australian comfortably dealt with his effort. Eight minutes later, Yeremay Hernandez found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, only for Ryan to produce an important save.

Levante also threatened from set pieces, with Roger Brugue heading wide from a promising position in the 25th minute. Deportivo responded through Giacomo Quagliata, whose attempt from the edge of the penalty area was saved by Ryan in the 37th minute.

Despite creating several chances, neither team managed to break the deadlock before the interval. Both sides headed into half-time with the score still 0-0.

Deportivo started the second half with greater purpose and eventually took the lead in the 63rd minute. Nsongo received the ball inside the penalty area, spotted Ryan off his line and cleverly chipped the goalkeeper to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.

The home side had introduced Adama Traore shortly before the breakthrough, and the substitute almost extended their advantage in the 69th minute. However, Ryan made an excellent save to deny his attempt towards the right post.

Levante continued pushing for an equaliser and finally found their breakthrough in the 82nd minute. Requena collected a well-weighted pass inside the penalty area before sending a low shot into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-1.

Deportivo came close to regaining the lead six minutes later when Jonathan Asp Jensen struck the crossbar with an effort from inside the box.

Although seven minutes of stoppage time were added, neither side could find another goal. The referee eventually blew the final whistle after 98 minutes, confirming a 1-1 draw that saw both teams take a point.
