Fresh Injury Update on Declan Rice, Noni Madueke And Riccardo Calafiori Emerges

According to a report by Football London on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Arsenal are facing fresh injury concerns ahead of their Premier League meeting with Liverpool on Sunday, following their disappointing Carabao Cup exit against Fleetwood Town.

Mikel Arteta confirmed after Tuesday’s match that Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Riccardo Calafiori were unavailable due to fitness issues, leaving their chances of featuring at Anfield uncertain.

However, there is encouraging news regarding Rice and Madueke, with reports from football.london indicating that both players are expected to recover in time for the weekend, provided they do not suffer any setbacks.

Rice was forced off during Arsenal’s recent league victory over Everton after experiencing discomfort. Despite that concern, the England midfielder was spotted taking part in training on Monday, suggesting his condition may not be serious.

The 15th-placed Ballon d’Or nominee also missed the ceremony in London, although his absence from the event does not appear to indicate a major injury, given his subsequent involvement in training.

Madueke is also believed to be making progress. His ankle problem is reportedly not serious enough to rule him out of Sunday’s fixture, which would be a welcome boost for Arteta, particularly with Bukayo Saka already unavailable through injury.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are still waiting to discover whether teenage forward Max Dowman will be eligible to face Liverpool after being sent off against Fleetwood. The club have appealed the red-card decision in an attempt to overturn his suspension.

Calafiori’s situation is less encouraging. The Italian defender reportedly felt discomfort around his hip and side after a collision during his substitute appearance against Everton. Although the exact extent of the problem has not been established, there are concerns about whether he will be fit enough to return against Liverpool.

If Calafiori is unavailable, Arteta has alternatives at left-back. Piero Hincapie recently returned from an ankle injury during the Fleetwood match, while Myles Lewis-Skelly played in that position against Everton.

Arteta is expected to provide further information on the players’ conditions during his pre-match press conference on Friday. Arsenal will be hoping to have as many key players available as possible for the trip to Anfield, where they have not recorded a Premier League victory since September 2012.
