According to BBC Sport on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Arsenal secured three valuable points with a narrow 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the Premier League.

Arsenal travelled to face Forest hoping to extend their strong run of results, but the hosts proved to be difficult opponents. Nottingham Forest defended resolutely, particularly during the opening half, and worked hard to prevent the visitors from creating dangerous scoring chances despite enjoying less of the possession.

The Gunners controlled the majority of the encounter and ended the match with 74 per cent possession, leaving Forest with just 26 per cent. Although Arsenal dictated the pace of the game, the home side still attempted to cause problems whenever they had the chance to attack.

However, Arsenal struggled to turn their dominance into goals for most of the match. Their attempts were largely unsuccessful in troubling Matz Sels, while Forest's disciplined defensive display made it difficult for the visitors to find a clear route to goal.

The decisive moment arrived in the 80th minute when Madueke broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot that deflected on its way into the net beyond Sels. Declan Rice was credited with the assist as Arsenal finally secured the breakthrough they had been searching for.

Forest pushed forward in an attempt to salvage a point during the final minutes, but Arsenal defended effectively and maintained their narrow lead until the referee ended the match following five minutes of stoppage time.

The result strengthened Arsenal's position in the Premier League title race, moving Mikel Arteta's team back into second place in the table. Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, fell to 18th position and remained in the relegation zone after suffering another setback.
