Manchester United also earned three crucial points with a thrilling 3-2 win against Roma, while Real Madrid overcame AEK Athens by the same scoreline.

Liverpool, however, endured a disappointing evening after losing 3-2 to Fenerbahce, putting an end to their positive result in the competition.

Barcelona occupy fifth position, with Aston Villa in sixth place. Manchester City are seventh, while Liverpool complete the top eight with nine points.

Sporting CP are ninth, followed by Club Brugge, Real Betis and Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich occupy thirteenth position, while Stuttgart are fourteenth. Inter Milan sit fifteenth, with LASK Linz in sixteenth place.

Manchester United have climbed to seventeenth position with six points following their victory over Roma. Galatasaray are eighteenth, while Fenerbahce have moved up to nineteenth after defeating Liverpool. Roma occupy twentieth position.

Shakhtar Donetsk, Viking, Atletico Madrid and PSV Eindhoven follow in the standings, while Bodo/Glimt, Porto, Napoli and Villarreal occupy the next positions.

AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, Sabah, Feyenoord, Lens, Slavia Prague, Lille and Slovan Bratislava complete the remaining places.

Under the Champions League league-phase format, the eight highest-ranked teams will progress directly to the round of 16, while clubs finishing between ninth and twenty-fourth will battle through the knockout play-offs.
