According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday October 18, 2026, Udinese manager Kosta Runjaić has issued a strong warning to Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye following his costly mistake in the club’s defeat to Torino.
Okoye’s error directly contributed to a goal as Udinese suffered defeat at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, prompting Runjaić to speak to the Nigerian goalkeeper ahead of Sunday’s clash with Lecce.
Runjaić said he had made his concerns clear to Okoye and stressed that players must understand the consequences of mistakes, particularly when they lead directly to goals.
“A coach must communicate with absolute clarity to his players, and I exercised that responsibility on this occasion,” Runjaić said through Udinese’s official communication channels.
“He understands completely that his action resulted in us conceding a goal. Throughout a match, players make numerous decisions, and that particular one was poor.”
Despite the criticism, Runjaić insisted that he still has faith in Okoye’s ability and believes the goalkeeper has the potential to rank among Serie A’s best.
The Udinese boss, however, warned that Okoye must improve his concentration and avoid further costly mistakes.
Okoye will now be expected to respond positively when Udinese face Lecce, with another major mistake potentially putting his place under greater pressure.
