According to a report by Sports Mole on Monday, November 2, 2026, Arsenal have received a major boost following the return of William Saliba to first-team training after spending several months on the sidelines with a serious back injury.
The French international has yet to make an appearance for the Gunners in the 2026/2027 campaign after struggling with the injury, which became worse while representing France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Saliba was forced off after just 30 minutes during France's World Cup semi-final defeat against Spain on July 14. His condition raised concerns about the possibility of surgery, but Arsenal eventually opted for a conservative treatment programme instead.
The 25-year-old defender began individual training in October as he gradually worked towards regaining full fitness. However, his latest return to group training represents another significant milestone in his recovery.
According to reports, Saliba has made excellent progress and successfully achieved his recovery targets. Nevertheless, Arsenal are expected to handle his return carefully rather than immediately placing him back into competitive action.
His comeback will be particularly important for Mikel Arteta, considering the defender's influence on the team's defensive organisation. Saliba established himself as one of Arsenal's most reliable players following his return from Marseille in 2022.
Meanwhile, Ezri Konsa has impressed since arriving at the Emirates Stadium, forming an effective central defensive partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. The England international has also contributed to five Premier League clean sheets this season.
Arsenal are currently preparing for their Champions League encounter against Slavia Prague on Wednesday before welcoming Hull City to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Although Saliba could potentially return to the matchday squad against Hull, the club may decide against rushing him back.
His availability after the November international break, particularly for the Premier League trip to Newcastle United on November 21, is another possibility.
The defender's return to training is undoubtedly encouraging news for Arsenal as they look to maintain their impressive form in the Premier League and Champions League.
