2026 U-17 WWC: Flamingos Learn Semi-Final Opponents as Nigeria Target Historic Final Spot

According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday, November 1, 2026, the semi-final fixtures for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco have been confirmed, with Nigeria's Flamingos set to face Brazil for a place in the final.

Nigeria secured their qualification for the last four following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Venezuela in their quarter-final encounter on Sunday.

A late penalty from captain Azeezat Oduntan proved decisive after Venezuela defender Migleydys Bolsegui was adjudged to have fouled Oluebube Umejiaku inside the penalty area.

Oduntan stepped forward and confidently converted the spot kick in the closing stages to send the Nigerian youngsters into the semi-finals and end Venezuela's hopes of progressing further in the competition.

The Flamingos will now face Brazil, who booked their place in the final four with a 2-1 victory over China PR in another quarter-final fixture.

China took the lead through Wu Yichen before Brazil responded with two second-half goals from Helena to complete the comeback and secure their semi-final ticket.

The encounter against Brazil will provide Nigeria with an opportunity to reach the final of the competition for the first time in their history.

The Flamingos will be making their second appearance in the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, having previously reached that stage in 2022 in India.

On that occasion, Nigeria finished third after defeating Germany 3-2 in the bronze medal match, marking their best achievement in the tournament's history.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final will feature an all-Asian encounter between Japan and defending champions North Korea.

Japan secured their place after recording a narrow 1-0 victory over Ghana, while North Korea delivered an impressive performance to defeat the United States 3-0.

The semi-final fixtures will take place on Wednesday, November 4, at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.

Japan will face North Korea at 3:00 pm Morocco time, while Nigeria's meeting with Brazil is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The two winning teams will advance to the final on Saturday, November 7, while the losing sides will compete for the bronze medal on the same day.

For the Flamingos, victory over Brazil would represent a historic achievement, taking them into their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup final.
