According to a report by Madrid Universal on Saturday October 17, 2026, Vinicius Junior’s four-match suspension has created a selection dilemma for Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, but it could also provide an opportunity for three players hoping to secure more playing time.
The Brazilian winger will miss Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga matches against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander and Valencia after his suspension was upheld on appeal. The punishment followed his dismissal against Villarreal, meaning Mourinho must find alternative attacking options during his absence.
Although losing Vinicius is a significant setback for Madrid, the situation could allow other players to demonstrate what they can offer the team. Endrick, Yan Diomande and Brahim Diaz are among those who could benefit from the change.
Endrick appears to have a strong chance of benefiting from Vinicius’ absence, particularly after his impressive contribution to Real Madrid’s dramatic comeback against Roma.
The Brazilian youngster has been seeking more opportunities under Mourinho, and his performance against the Italian side has strengthened his case for greater involvement. His energy, movement and ability to attack space could give Madrid another dimension in the final third.
Although Endrick is naturally a centre-forward, Mourinho could consider deploying him on the right wing while allowing Kylian Mbappe to lead the attack through the middle.
The upcoming fixtures could therefore be important for Endrick as he attempts to establish himself as a regular option. If he can maintain his recent form and make effective use of his opportunities, he could strengthen his position in the squad even after Vinicius returns.
Yan Diomande is another player who could benefit significantly from the suspension, with the young winger offering a natural alternative on the left flank.
Diomande’s pace, dribbling ability and confidence in one-on-one situations could help Madrid compensate for Vinicius’ absence. His ability to take on defenders and stretch opposition back lines would be particularly valuable against teams that defend deep.
Mourinho could consider using Diomande on the left, Endrick on the opposite flank and Mbappe through the middle. Such a combination would give Madrid a different attacking setup while allowing the manager to assess how effectively the younger players can work together.
Diomande has an opportunity to demonstrate that he can shoulder greater responsibility at the club. Strong performances during Vinicius’ suspension could help him make a convincing case for more regular starts.
Brahim Diaz is the third player who could benefit from the Brazilian winger’s absence. The Moroccan international offers a different profile from Endrick and Diomande, thanks to his ability to operate between the lines, link midfield with attack and create opportunities in tight spaces.
Rather than simply replacing Vinicius with another traditional winger, Mourinho could use Brahim to introduce greater fluidity into Madrid’s attacking play. His movement and close control could help the team unlock compact defences and create more opportunities for Mbappe.
Brahim’s versatility also gives Mourinho several tactical options, as he can operate in different attacking positions depending on the opposition.
With Vinicius unavailable in La Liga for four matches, Brahim could receive additional minutes to prove his value. However, he will need to make the most of any opportunities if he hopes to become a more important part of Mourinho’s plans.
