Chelsea are reportedly preparing a major financial offer for Barcelona midfielder Fermín López as they renew their interest in signing the Spanish international after previously failing to secure his services in 2025.
According to a report by Football Transfer on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the Premier League club are considering a substantial proposal to convince Barcelona to negotiate the possible departure of the 23-year-old midfielder.
Chelsea have admired López for several years but have struggled to reach an agreement with the Spanish giants. The midfielder has also shown little willingness to leave Barcelona despite growing interest from several European clubs.
López has continued to play an important role under manager Hansi Flick, registering nine goals and assists in 12 appearances across all competitions this season. His performances have further strengthened his reputation and attracted attention from leading European sides.
Earlier this year, the midfielder signed a contract extension that will keep him at Barcelona until 2031, demonstrating the club's desire to retain his services.
However, according to The Daily Briefing, Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an offer worth approximately €80 million, while Chelsea are reportedly considering an even larger bid.
López currently has an estimated transfer value of €116.5 million, although Barcelona are expected to demand a significant fee before considering his departure.
Arsenal and Manchester United have also reportedly monitored his situation, increasing the number of clubs potentially interested in his signature.
Despite Chelsea's intentions, a January transfer appears unlikely because López remains committed to Barcelona, who are also reluctant to weaken their squad during the season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly turning their attention towards Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as another potential midfield reinforcement.
The London club are said to be preparing a formal approach for the England international after failing to sign him during the previous summer transfer window.
Scott has emerged as an important target ahead of 2027, although Bournemouth are reportedly demanding approximately €120 million for his services.
Liverpool are also interested in the midfielder, meaning Chelsea could face competition if they decide to pursue a deal.
