UCL Table After Manchester United Lost 2-0, Liverpool Won 6:3 and Arsenal Won 3:0

According to a report by The Guardian on Thursday October 15, 2026, After the most recent UEFA Champions League matches, the league-phase standings have changed drastically. Manchester United lost to Atletico Madrid 2-0, while Liverpool and Arsenal both won impressively to bolster their positions.

Several of Europe's top clubs put on thrilling displays in the second round of matches. An exciting match between Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City ended with Liverpool scoring six goals while Arsenal cruised to a win over Lille.

Against LASK, Liverpool put on a 6-3 display that was among the game's most spectacular offensive performances. Although giving up three goals may make you wonder how well-organized their defense is, the Reds demonstrated their ability to generate scoring chances and capitalize on defensive errors.

This win came after Liverpool's first match, a 2-1 triumph over Atletico Madrid. After two games, Liverpool has a promising six points, which improves their chances of finishing in the top eight and advancing directly to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

The 3-0 win over Lille at the Emirates Stadium was just the latest example of Arsenal's superb form. Prior to Eberechi Eze extending the Gunners' lead, Jurriën Timber put them ahead. The impressive performance was capped off by a third goal scored by Bukayo Saka.

After two games without allowing a goal, the North London club has taken the lead. They have solidified their place among the teams vying for top spot in the standings thanks to their disciplined defense and efficient offense.

At the same time, Manchester United's 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid was a disappointing performance on the Spanish turf. Michael Carrick's squad suffered a setback with the loss; they had come into the match hoping to extend their winning streak to four games, which they had previously won against Sabah.

United only managed to earn three points in their first two matches because Atletico Madrid took full advantage of their chances to win both games. The English club needs to turn things around in their next games if they don't want to fall further behind in the hunt for automatic qualification.

Manchester United can't afford to get comfortable just yet, even though they are still in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs. They would skip the extra knockout play-off round and go straight to the round of 16 if they finished in the top eight.

Meanwhile, PSG's magnificent performance was on full display in their 4-2 victory over Manchester City. City let their opponents score a crucial victory as the French side showed off their offensive prowess.

Even though Manchester City's Erling Haaland scored twice, the team still lost. The outcome has raised the stakes for City's upcoming matches as they aim to strengthen their standing in the league.

Additionally, Barcelona kept their winning streak going with a 4-1 triumph over Galatasaray. With six points from two games, the Spanish powerhouses have solidified their place as early favorites to finish in the top eight.

Equally impressive was Aston Villa, who thrashed Fenerbahce 6-0. This gave them a huge boost in the hotly contested battle for qualification and improved their goal differential.

After a thrilling 4-3 victory over Roma, Real Madrid also took home the spoils. In contrast, Bayern Munich lost ground after a 3-3 tie with Viking, so they'll need to improve in their next matches.

After Day 2, clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona, Aston Villa, Stuttgart, Sporting CP, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Sporting CP are vying for spots in the top eight. Their positions demonstrate how crucial it is to accumulate points and keep a strong goal differential during the league phase.

The top eight teams in the standings advance directly to the round of 16 in the Champions League. Clubs that do not finish in the top 24 are disqualified from the competition, while clubs that finish in the top 9 to 24 are required to participate in the knockout play-offs.

On October 21, Manchester United will play Como, giving them a chance to get back on track. Carrick will be rooting for a more impressive showing from his team so they can get back on track.

On October 20, Villarreal will host Liverpool, and on October 21, Bayern Munich will host Arsenal in Germany. The outcomes of both games may determine the teams' standings going forward in the tournament.

Manchester United still have time to improve their league standing with six games left in the regular season. But if they wish to guaranty themselves a spot in the round of 16, they'll need to be more consistent, score more often, and avoid more disappointing losses.
