According to Fabrizio Romano on Monday, October 26, 2026, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has backed Harry Kane to win the Ballon d’Or, describing the Bayern Munich striker’s potential victory as well deserved.
Speaking at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony at the London Palladium, Mbappé also discussed Real Madrid’s position in world football and the atmosphere within the team following their 2-1 victory over Barcelona.
Asked about Kane’s chances of winning the prestigious individual award, Mbappé said the England captain would deserve the honour. “Harry Kane for the Ballon d’Or? It would be well deserved,” he said.
Mbappé also reflected on the mood among Real Madrid players at the ceremony, saying the team had attended the event together after enjoying a good evening following their match the previous day. “We all came here together. After yesterday’s match, we had a great evening,” he said.
The French forward further stated that Real Madrid belonged among the best clubs in world football, while declining to make predictions about what would follow at the ceremony.
“We just want to enjoy tonight and see how things go. Being among the best in world football is exactly where Real Madrid belongs. As for the rest, we’ll see,” Mbappé said.
His comments came a day after Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 in El Clásico, with the result reducing the gap between the teams in the La Liga title race to three points, according to the supplied report.
