Estevao Willian has given Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso another selection decision ahead of Sunday's Premier League trip to Sunderland following his impressive performance in the 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
According to a report by Football London on Monday, 2 November 2026, the Brazilian teenager made his first Premier League start of the season at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and played an important role in helping Chelsea secure all three points.
The 19-year-old was a constant attacking threat on the right wing, troubling Manchester United's defence with his pace, movement and attacking quality.
Estevao registered six shots, including three on target, against Michael Carrick's side. His attempt tally was the highest recorded by a Chelsea player in a single match this season. He also completed eight crosses as Alonso's team produced an impressive attacking display.
The former Palmeiras star could have capped his performance with a goal in the second half, but his effort was ruled out for a marginal offside decision.
His involvement was particularly significant considering he had managed only 172 minutes of football this season before the Manchester United encounter. He was also an unused substitute during Chelsea's Carabao Cup elimination against Liverpool.
However, competition for attacking positions has limited his opportunities, with Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro among the players ahead of him in the pecking order.
Joao Pedro's recent injury could now create an opportunity for the Brazilian to enjoy a more regular role in Alonso's starting XI.
Palmer was also impressed by his team-mate's contribution against United, praising his patience and ability to make an impact when given an opportunity.
“He needed to be patient for his moment and he got his moment today,” said Palmer.
“He was unlucky with the offside. I think it was literally a centimetre. But we know the talent he’s got and we all love him. So hopefully he can continue like that.”
Chelsea will now turn their attention to Sunderland as Alonso looks to maintain their push for a top-four finish.
Following his impressive performance against Manchester United, Estevao has strengthened his case for another starting opportunity, although the final decision rests with the Chelsea manager.
