According to a report by footballTransfers on Friday October 23, 2026, Chelsea are keeping a close watch on Nico Paz, but signing the Como playmaker could take a huge offer and Real Madrid may stand in their way.
Paz has made a spectacular start to the season, scoring four goals and providing five assists in 10 appearances. His two goals and an assist against Manchester United have only intensified interest in the 22-year-old.
Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs monitoring him, having watched his recent matches against Feyenoord and Fiorentina. But Como are under no pressure to sell. The Italian club have invested heavily in the squad and see Paz as a key part of their plans.
Paz joined Como from Real Madrid in 2024 for a reported €6 million. After thriving under Cesc Fabregas, he helped the club achieve its highest-ever league finish, earning Serie A’s Under-23 Player of the Year award.
Last season, he added 12 goals and six assists as Como secured Champions League qualification.
Real Madrid have retained a route back to their former prospect. A clause reportedly allows them to sign Paz for €80 million next summer, while also giving them a share of any future transfer fee.
That arrangement could make negotiations difficult for Chelsea and push Como to demand more than €100 million if they consider selling.
Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi has praised Paz’s talent and work ethic, saying he has the potential to reach the very top.
His performances have backed up that confidence: data analysts at SciSports believe he could become Chelsea’s best player if he fulfils his potential.
For now, Chelsea’s interest remains a watching brief. Paz has shown no clear desire to leave, and Como have little reason to let him go.
If the Blues decide to make a move, they may need to outbid the market and find a way past Real Madrid’s advantage.
