According to a report by the London Evening Standard on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal youngster Ismeal Kabia is expected to remain sidelined until after the November international break following a calf tear sustained during his loan spell at Scottish Premiership club St Mirren.
The 20-year-old winger suffered the injury during St Mirren's 2-1 victory over Dundee on October 24. He was unable to continue playing and has since missed the club's subsequent matches against Hibernian and Motherwell.
Initial medical examinations suggested that the problem could be more serious than first anticipated, raising concerns about how long the Arsenal youngster would be unavailable. St Mirren manager Craig McLeish confirmed that the results of the scans had revealed a worrying development, although further assessments were required to establish the full extent of the injury.
McLeish subsequently provided a more detailed update before his team's trip to Motherwell on Saturday, confirming that Kabia had suffered a small tear in his calf. The manager indicated that the winger was unlikely to recover in time to feature again before the international break.
The St Mirren boss also explained that Arsenal would carry out an independent medical assessment to determine the appropriate recovery programme for their young player. This means Kabia could spend additional time away from competitive football, with his return depending on the outcome of further examinations.
The injury comes as a disappointing setback for the forward, who had been making progress during his temporary move to Scotland. His loan spell had provided an opportunity to gain valuable senior football experience, develop his abilities and establish himself through regular first-team involvement.
Arsenal are expected to maintain close communication with St Mirren throughout the rehabilitation process to monitor the youngster's condition and ensure that his recovery progresses appropriately. The international break could offer additional time for treatment and rehabilitation before another assessment determines when he can resume full training.
For now, Kabia's immediate priority is recovering fully from the calf injury rather than rushing back into action. Although his absence is frustrating for both clubs, ensuring that the problem heals properly will be important in preventing further complications.
His eventual return to the pitch will depend on his recovery progress and medical clearance.
