Current EPL Table After Chelsea Won 2:0, Manchester City Won 3:2, And Liverpool Comeback Win

According to a report by Sky Sports on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the English Premier League standings experienced notable changes following victories for Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Manchester City defeated Ipswich Town 3-2, Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 victory against Everton, while Liverpool overturned a one-goal deficit to beat Brentford 2-1. The results strengthened the positions of the three clubs as the competition for the Premier League title and European qualification continued.

Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the domestic campaign after overcoming Ipswich Town in an entertaining five-goal encounter at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca's men demonstrated their attacking strength despite facing considerable resistance from the visitors.

Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Daizen Maeda equalised for Ipswich just two minutes later. However, Erling Haaland restored City's advantage in the 34th minute before completing his brace in the 69th minute.

Zian Flemming later converted a penalty for Ipswich, but Manchester City held on to secure another important victory. The result took their tally to 21 points from seven matches, leaving them six points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.

Chelsea also produced an impressive performance against Everton, with Pedro Neto scoring twice to secure a 2-0 away victory.

After a goalless first half, Neto broke the deadlock shortly after the restart before adding another goal in the closing stages. His contribution ensured that Chelsea collected maximum points and maintained their pursuit of the teams above them.

The victory moved Chelsea into fourth position with 13 points from seven matches, level with third-placed Brighton but behind them on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Liverpool demonstrated their determination by coming from behind to defeat Brentford 2-1 away from home.

Keane Lewis-Potter initially gave Brentford the advantage in the 44th minute, leaving Liverpool facing the possibility of another disappointing result.

However, the encounter changed after Brentford's Yehor Yarmolyuk received a red card. Liverpool capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Victor Muñoz equalising in the 62nd minute before Alexander Isak scored the winning goal eight minutes later.

The victory lifted Liverpool into fifth position with 12 points from seven matches, keeping them within touching distance of the Champions League qualification places.

Following Saturday's matches, Manchester City occupied first position with 21 points, followed by Arsenal with 15 points. Brighton remained third with 13 points, while Chelsea occupied fourth position with the same number of points.

Liverpool completed the top five with 12 points, while Brentford and Everton followed in sixth and seventh positions respectively, both having collected 10 points.

Leeds United occupied eighth position with nine points, followed by Hull City and Ipswich Town, who also had nine points each.

Manchester United remained in the lower half of the standings with six points from six matches ahead of their important Premier League encounter against Leeds United on Sunday.

At the bottom of the table, Sunderland, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur continued to face difficult situations as they searched for improved results.

Manchester City's latest victory further strengthened their title ambitions, while Chelsea and Liverpool gained valuable ground in the race for European qualification.

With Arsenal, Brighton and Manchester United still scheduled to play on Sunday, the Premier League standings could undergo further changes before the weekend concludes.
