According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 25, 2026, Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the 2026/2027 Spanish La Liga campaign after losing 2-1 to Real Madrid in an entertaining El Clasico clash at Spotify Camp Nou.
The defeat brought Barcelona's nine-game winning run to an end and gave Real Madrid an opportunity to close the gap on their fierce rivals to three points.
Kylian Mbappe was the standout performer for Real Madrid, scoring twice to inspire his team to a crucial victory. Jose Mourinho's side secured all three points in a highly anticipated encounter between the Spanish giants.
The French forward broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when an attacking move ended with the ball deflecting off him and finding its way into Barcelona's goal.
Barcelona returned for the second half determined to get back into the game, with Hansi Flick's men stepping up their attacking efforts in search of an equaliser.
Their pressure paid off in the 61st minute when Raphinha levelled the score after receiving an intelligent pass from Pedri. The Brazilian winger controlled the ball inside Real Madrid's penalty area before finishing brilliantly to make it 1-1.
Despite conceding the equaliser, Real Madrid continued to push forward in search of a winning goal.
Their persistence was rewarded in the closing stages when Eduardo Camavinga delivered a decisive pass to Mbappe, who finished from close range to restore Madrid's lead.
Barcelona tried to find another equaliser before the final whistle, but Real Madrid held firm defensively to preserve their advantage and claim a valuable victory.
