Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or Tops Fan Poll

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2008 Ballon d’Or-winning season has been voted the greatest in the award’s history in a fan poll organised by French magazine France Football. Ronaldo topped the publication’s B.O.A.T. initiative, which invited fans to select the best award-winning campaign among players who had won the prize at least twice, finishing ahead of Lionel Messi’s 2012 season.

Ronaldo earned the 2008 award after scoring 42 goals in all competitions for Manchester United, helping the club win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles. He also scored 31 league goals to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer and won the European Golden Shoe. The poll ranked individual seasons rather than players’ overall careers and was presented as a fan-led initiative, not an official award or journalist-determined ranking.

Jigawa Assembly Passes State Police Bill

The Jigawa State House of Assembly has endorsed a constitutional amendment bill for the establishment of state police, describing the proposal as a way to improve security and create employment opportunities for qualified indigenes. Speaker Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin said the initiative would strengthen grassroots security and complement the efforts of federal security agencies, insisting that it was not intended to target opposition members or settle political disputes.

Dangyatin said a State Police Commission would oversee recruitment and administrative responsibilities, while the Jigawa State Government would provide adequate funding for the proposed outfit. He stressed that effective coordination and cooperation between federal and state authorities would be essential to the success of the initiative amid ongoing national discussions on decentralising policing and addressing concerns about political interference and abuse of power.

2027: Adebayo threatens protest over alleged plot to postpone election

The Adewole Adebayo-Bugaje Presidential Campaign Council has threatened legal action and mass protests against any attempt to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the January 16, 2027 presidential election. The council’s Chief Media and Communications Adviser, Mark Adebayo, alleged that there was a plan to summon INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan to the Presidential Villa to alter the election timetable.

The council warned against using public health concerns, including the reported Ebola outbreak, as a reason to delay the election, insisting that the timetable must remain unchanged. It urged INEC to maintain its neutrality and resist alleged pressure from the Presidency, adding that its presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, and running mate, Usman Bugaje, remained prepared for the polls.

Mutfwang inaugurates Tinubu’s door-to-door campaign in Plateau

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has inaugurated the state chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. The event in Jos also featured the unveiling of 25 campaign vehicles donated by movement patron Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. Mutfwang defended his support for Tinubu, citing the President’s commitment to improving Nigeria and interventions in security and infrastructure.

The governor urged members to intensify community mobilisation and announced that Tinubu would visit Plateau State on November 14, 2026, for a rally at Zaria Road Stadium, directing each member to mobilise at least 50 people. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Tompolo also called for coordinated grassroots campaigns, expressing support for Tinubu’s economic reforms and the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
