Serie A: Okoye speaks after crucial penalty save against Parma

According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday October 29, 2026, Nigeria international goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has reacted after making a crucial penalty save in Udinese's draw against Parma in Serie A.

Okoye was named Man of the Match after producing an important save to help Udinese secure a point away from home, ending their run of six consecutive league defeats.

Kosta Runjaic's side created several opportunities to win the encounter but needed a decisive intervention from the Nigerian goalkeeper to avoid defeat.

Okoye initially struggled to deal with a corner kick, which led to a penalty being awarded to Parma after the ball struck Udinese defender James Abankwah's arm.

However, the Super Eagles goalkeeper recovered from the mistake by saving Adrian Bernabé's penalty to keep his team in the game.

Speaking after the match, Okoye expressed satisfaction with the result, although he admitted that Udinese had been hoping to secure all three points.

"We always want to win and we need points. Today we got one, and that's fine. Now we're immediately focusing on the next one," he told the club's official website.

Reflecting on his decisive intervention, the 27-year-old said the penalty save was down to instinct.

"The penalty save was pure instinct," Okoye stated.

The goalkeeper also acknowledged that Udinese had experienced some bad luck in recent matches and highlighted the importance of Nicolo Zaniolo to the team.

"We've been unlucky in these games, and we've also been missing players like Zaniolo, whose importance we saw today," he added.

The result provides Udinese with an opportunity to regain confidence as they look to improve their position in the Serie A standings.
