Tuesday’s programme features nine fixtures, including Manchester United’s meeting with Roma at Old Trafford, Barcelona’s clash with Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid’s encounter with Bayern Munich.
Manchester United will be looking to improve their position after losing their previous two league-phase matches against Atletico Madrid and Como. Their opponents, Roma, will also be seeking a positive result as both teams look to strengthen their chances of progressing to the knockout rounds.
Barcelona face another difficult test against Aston Villa, who have made an impressive start to the competition. The Spanish side will be hoping to respond after suffering a 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in their previous Champions League outing.
Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich will also meet in one of Tuesday’s biggest fixtures, while Paris Saint-Germain travel to Villarreal. The French champions will aim to maintain their strong form after winning their opening three matches.
Other Tuesday fixtures include Shakhtar Donetsk versus Sporting CP, Galatasaray against Stuttgart, Feyenoord versus Inter Milan, Bodo/Glimt against Lille and LASK versus Slovan Bratislava.
Wednesday’s action will also feature several high-profile encounters, with Real Madrid travelling to face AEK Athens and Liverpool visiting Fenerbahce.
Arsenal will be away to Slavia Prague as they look to continue their campaign after collecting seven points from their opening three matches. Manchester City also face a challenging trip to Germany to take on RB Leipzig.
Borussia Dortmund will host Real Betis, while Napoli travel to Porto in another meeting between European clubs seeking important points.
The remaining Wednesday fixtures are PSV Eindhoven against Club Brugge, Lens versus Como and Viking against Sabah.
The league-phase format allows the top eight teams to qualify directly for the round of 16, while clubs finishing between ninth and 24th will enter a two-legged play-off to determine the remaining 16 teams in the knockout stage.
