Mbappe Reacts After Beating PSG Duo to Win Onze d’Or 2026: ‘It’s a pleasure to be recognised

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday October 19, 2026, despite strong competition from PSG's Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe emerged victorious as the 2026 Onze d'Or winner.

With over two million votes cast on the Onze Mondial website, the fan-based award went to the French forward, who received 48.2% of the total.

With 11.9%, Neves came in second, and Kvaratskhelia got 10.8%. After a season in which he scored over 40 goals for Real Madrid and had an outstanding World Cup performance, Mbappe adds another individual accolade to his collection with this achievement.

After accepting the trophy, Mbappe took the time to speak about how grateful he was. The recognition, he said, was a reflection of his efforts all season and an incentive to keep getting better.

“It’s a pleasure to be recognised. It’s a reward for the work put in all year long, and it gives me a lot of motivation to continue and do even better,” he said.

Additionally, the 26-year-old emphasized the significance of fans in football. He elaborated on how satisfying it is to entertain fans, who he said are an integral part of the game.

The possibility of Mbappe joining the ranks of Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Diego Maradona—all former winners of the Onze d'Or—was also raised. It was an honor to be associated with such great athletes, he said, and he lauded the legendary figures for their impact on football.

This most recent accolade solidifies Mbappe's status as one of the top individual performers in football. The Ballon d'Or race has continued to revolve around him due to his goal-scoring prowess.

The Real Madrid striker is known for more than just his football skills; he also admitted to a peculiar sneaker habit. While he was a young boy in Bondy, he began playing without insoles, a habit he has continued throughout his life.

Mbappe said that he still removes the insoles from his customized boots because it's just habit. Instead of imitating the practice, he suggested that the younger players just keep their insoles in their boots.
