Manchester City Superstar Ruled Out of Arsenal Clash With 8-week Injury

According to a report by Football London on Monday October 19, 2026, Manchester City have been dealt a major injury blow after Antoine Semenyo was ruled out for around eight weeks with a knee injury, leaving the club without one of their important attacking players for several crucial matches, including their Premier League showdown against Arsenal.

The Ghanaian winger had made an impressive start to the 2026/27 season, establishing himself as an influential member of Manchester City's attacking unit. Semenyo contributed five goals and assists across his first six starts, demonstrating his ability to make a difference in the final third. However, his promising run has now been interrupted by an injury sustained during City's recent encounter with Ipswich Town.

Semenyo reportedly suffered the setback shortly after entering the game as a substitute. The injury immediately raised concerns within the Manchester City camp, with initial fears suggesting that the problem could be more serious than expected.

Following the medical examination, City manager Enzo Maresca provided an update on the winger's condition and confirmed that he would be unavailable for approximately two months.

Maresca explained that the initial assessment had raised concerns about the possible severity of the injury, but the subsequent scan offered a clearer picture of the situation. The manager also suggested that Semenyo's anticipated return in December would feel like welcoming a new player into the squad.

The absence of the Ghana international represents a considerable challenge for Manchester City as they prepare for a demanding period involving domestic and European competitions. His pace, direct running and attacking contributions have made him a valuable option, and his unavailability will force Maresca to consider alternative solutions in the final third.

One of the most significant fixtures Semenyo is expected to miss is City's Premier League clash against Arsenal, scheduled for November 29. The encounter could have important implications for the title race, making his absence particularly frustrating for the Manchester club.

The winger could also miss several other league matches against Aston Villa, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Leeds United, Brentford and Chelsea. His recovery timeline means that his availability for these fixtures will depend on how quickly he responds to treatment and rehabilitation.

Furthermore, Semenyo is expected to be unavailable for Manchester City's League Cup meeting with Brighton and a number of Champions League matches involving AEK Athens, RB Leipzig, Napoli and Barcelona.

Losing such an influential attacker during a crucial stage of the campaign is undoubtedly a setback for City. His early-season performances had provided the team with an additional attacking threat, and his absence could place greater responsibility on the remaining forwards to deliver goals and create opportunities.

Although Maresca is hopeful that Semenyo will return in December, the club will need to manage his rehabilitation carefully to avoid any complications. Manchester City will be eager to have him back at full fitness as they pursue their objectives in the Premier League, domestic cup competitions and Champions League.
