Premier League Table And Match Review After Sunday's Fixture

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal earned an important 1-0 win against Liverpool in a competitive Premier League clash. Kai Havertz proved to be the difference between the sides, scoring the decisive goal as Mikel Arteta's team held on to their advantage until the final whistle.

The visitors made a positive start, with Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis creating promising opportunities in the opening stages. Liverpool soon responded with attacking intent, but Arsenal's well-organised defence made it difficult for the hosts to establish control in the final third.

Arsenal took the lead in the 16th minute through an impressive attacking move. Declan Rice supplied a superb pass into the penalty area, allowing Havertz to control the ball and finish confidently from close range to put the Gunners in front.

Liverpool searched for an equaliser through Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Bradley Barcola. However, David Raya delivered a composed performance in goal, making important interventions and handling the ball confidently to keep Liverpool at bay during the first half.

The hosts pushed forward with greater urgency as halftime approached. Alexis Mac Allister came close with a header that sailed just over the bar, while Florian Wirtz struck a free kick against the crossbar. Arsenal survived both opportunities and went into the break with their lead intact.

Liverpool believed they deserved a penalty when Gakpo went down inside Arsenal's penalty area. Nevertheless, a VAR check supported referee Andy Madley's decision not to award a spot kick, ensuring that Arsenal maintained their advantage.

Following the interval, Liverpool enjoyed more possession and increased their efforts to level the score. Arsenal, however, remained disciplined at the back, with their defenders blocking Wirtz's attempts and disrupting the hosts' attacking combinations.

The Gunners also created opportunities of their own, with Madueke and Jurrien Timber contributing to their forward play. At the other end, Alisson produced an excellent reflex save to prevent Tzolis from extending Arsenal's lead. Both managers subsequently turned to their substitutes in search of a decisive impact.

During the closing minutes, Liverpool continued to push for an equaliser, with Rio Ngumoha, Ronald Araujo and Dominik Szoboszlai among those who attempted to threaten Arsenal's goal. However, the visitors' defence stood firm, denying the hosts a clear route back into the contest.

Despite six minutes of stoppage time, Liverpool were unable to break through Arsenal's defensive line. The final whistle confirmed a valuable 1-0 victory for Arsenal, with Havertz's first-half finish proving sufficient to settle the encounter.
