According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday November 3, 2026, Nigeria will have four representatives across three women's categories at the 2026 CAF Awards, with the Super Falcons, goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma and two promising youngsters earning nominations.
The nominations represent another opportunity for Nigerian women's football to receive recognition on the continental stage ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled to take place in Lagos on December 7.
The Super Falcons have been nominated for the Women's National Team of the Year award alongside nine other African countries.
Nigeria will face competition from Algeria, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Morocco and South Africa for the prestigious honour.
The nomination further highlights Nigeria's continued presence among the leading women's football nations on the continent.
Meanwhile, Christiana Uzoma will represent the country in the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year category after being included among the 10 nominees.
The Nigerian goalkeeper will compete against Algeria's Chloe N'Gazi, Cameroon's Michaelly Bihina, Ghana's Cynthia Konlan, Malawi's Mercy Sikelo, Mali's Fatoumata Karantao, Morocco's Khadija Er-Rmichi, Senegal's Adji Ndiaye, South Africa's Kaylin Swart and Zambia's Hazel Nali.
Nigeria also has two representatives in the Women's Young Player of the Year category, with Seimeveaha Janet Akekoromowei and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi earning nominations.
The two youngsters will compete against Romaine Gandonou, Maëva N'Djodjou, Grace-Ruth Servy, N'Sira Ouérabogo, Rose Kadzere, Kautar Azraf, Adji Ndiaye and Winfrida Gerald.
Their inclusion provides further encouragement for the development of young female footballers in Nigeria, with both players receiving an opportunity to compete for individual recognition at the continental level.
However, despite Nigeria's representation in three categories, the country will not have a nominee in the Women's Player of the Year award.
No Super Falcons player made the shortlist for the prestigious individual honour, which represents a notable disappointment for the country.
The 2026 CAF Awards ceremony will be held in Lagos on December 7, with Nigeria hoping to convert its nominations into silverware on home soil.
