LIV 1-1 CHE: Four Worst Chelsea Players in First-Half of The Carabao Cup Clash

According to a report by Flashscore on Wednesday October 28, 2026, Chelsea went into half-time level at 1-1 against Liverpool in their Carabao Cup fourth-round clash, but Wesley Fofana’s costly handball allowed the hosts to equalise from the penalty spot.

Although Morgan Rogers had given the Blues the lead, several Chelsea players struggled to make their contributions count during an eventful first half at Anfield.

1. Wesley Fofana

Wesley Fofana endured a difficult moment when his handball inside Chelsea’s penalty area handed Liverpool a golden opportunity to draw level. The defender’s mistake resulted in a penalty, which Cody Gakpo converted in the 43rd minute to make it 1-1. Fofana’s error proved particularly costly because Chelsea had taken the lead just three minutes earlier. His involvement in Liverpool’s equaliser makes him one of the most disappointing Chelsea players from the opening period.

2. Moises Caicedo

Moises Caicedo struggled to make his attacking contributions count during the first half. In the 22nd minute, the midfielder attempted a volley from long range, but his effort flew well wide of the left post. He showed better vision seven minutes later by threading a pass through to Josh Acheampong. However, Giorgi Mamardashvili read the move and broke it up before Chelsea could create a clear opportunity.

3. Pedro Neto

Pedro Neto had limited success when attempting to trouble Liverpool’s defence. In the fifth minute, he sent a low pass from outside the penalty area towards Danny Welbeck, but Liverpool’s defenders intercepted it before the striker could shoot. Neto also committed a foul in the sixth minute, giving Liverpool a free kick. Although he later dribbled past several challenges in the 37th minute, a Liverpool defender eventually dispossessed him.

4. Morgan Rogers

Despite scoring Chelsea’s opening goal, Morgan Rogers also experienced frustrating moments before the interval. In the 26th minute, the forward was caught offside, interrupting Chelsea’s attacking move. Nine minutes later, he produced a poor cross that failed to find a teammate. Rogers did win and convert a penalty in the 40th minute, but his earlier attacking decisions prevented him from maintaining consistent effectiveness throughout the half.
