EPL: Carragher makes fresh title prediction after Man City, Arsenal wins

According to a report that was published by the Daily Post on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has not changed his prediction that Arsenal will win the Premier League title this season. This prediction was made despite the fact that Manchester City is currently in the lead in the table.

In the course of his analysis of the Premier League matches that took place over the weekend on Monday Nite Football, Carragher discussed his thoughts on the race for the title.

At the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, Manchester City secured a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, which had just been promoted to the Premier League. This victory allowed Manchester City to strengthen their position at the top of the table.

In the meantime, Arsenal secured a victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday by a narrow score of 1-0. The victory was secured by a late goal scored by substitute Noni Madueke, which ensured that Mikel Arteta's team would take home all three points.

After the results, Manchester City is currently in first place in the Premier League table with 18 points, three points ahead of Arsenal, who is currently in second place.

Even though City has gotten off to a strong start in the season, Carragher believes that Arsenal is still the team to beat in the race for the championship. Arsenal is still the team that I believe should be stopped. In the event that they had lost even more points on Sunday, they might have been five points behind Man City, according to Carragher.

The former Liverpool defender admitted that Arsenal could have been subjected to a greater amount of pressure if they had been unable to defeat Nottingham Forest after dropping points in their most recent matches.

He continued by saying, "It is obvious that we do not know what is going to happen with City; consequently, we have to accept it as it is right now."

Also, Carragher explained that Arsenal would have been concerned about falling five points behind Manchester City, particularly if they had continued to struggle for victories. This was especially true if they had continued to struggle for victories.

Madueke's decisive contribution, on the other hand, ensured that the Gunners avoided suffering yet another defeat and kept their three-point lead over the team that is currently in first place in the league.

There is a possibility that Arsenal's victory will prove to be significant as the season progresses. It is anticipated that consistency will play a significant role in determining the destination of the Premier League title competition.

Carragher is still of the opinion that Arsenal possesses the qualities necessary to compete with Manchester City, despite the fact that Manchester City has already given evidence of their quality by winning their first matches.

As the competition for the title continues, the Gunners will now attempt to build on their victory over Nottingham Forest and continue to exert pressure on Pep Guardiola's team.

In spite of the fact that there is only a narrow gap between the two teams, the competition for the top spot in the Premier League table is still very carefully balanced.
