Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez was forced off at half-time after suffering a thigh problem during the team's latest match, with manager Michael Carrick confirming the injury.

According to a report by Sky Sport on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Martínez's fitness is now a concern for United as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures. The Argentine defender plays an important role at the back, using his tackling ability and aggressive approach to help the team defend and build attacks from defence.

His absence could affect Carrick's defensive plans, particularly against opponents who put United under pressure. The decision to withdraw him at half-time also meant the club avoided taking further risks with his condition.

Martínez has established himself as an important member of United's defence through his determination and ability to keep possession under pressure. His understanding with his fellow defenders also helps the team maintain its shape when facing attacking opponents.

If he misses upcoming matches, Carrick may need to make changes to his defensive line-up and find a suitable replacement who can maintain the team's organisation at the back.

The injury comes as Manchester United continue their campaign under Carrick, with the manager also having to manage the fitness of key players while preparing for future matches.

The next step will be to assess the extent of Martínez's thigh problem and determine when he can return to action. His recovery will depend on the nature of the injury and the outcome of the club's medical assessment.

United supporters will be hoping the defender can return to training soon and avoid a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Further updates from Carrick and the club's medical team should provide more information about his condition and availability for upcoming fixtures.
