According to a report by Madrid Universal on Monday August 17, 2026, Barcelona’s move for Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly entered its final stage, with the Spain international preparing to travel to Catalonia to complete his transfer.
According to reports, Barcelona have arranged Rodri’s medical as the midfielder closes in on a move to the La Liga giants.
The 30-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract with Barcelona that will keep him at the club until 2030.
Rodri has reportedly already reached an agreement with Barcelona, leaving Manchester City and the Catalan club to finalise the financial details of the deal.
Barcelona are understood to have agreed to pay a fixed fee of €60 million for the midfielder, with additional bonuses potentially taking the overall package to €76.5 million.
More than €11 million of the bonuses are reportedly considered highly achievable, meaning Manchester City could realistically receive at least €71.5 million from the transfer.
The deal represents a significant fee for City, particularly with Rodri entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Rodri is now expected to fly to Barcelona on Monday ahead of his medical and the completion of the necessary paperwork.
If everything goes according to plan, Barcelona could officially present the midfielder as early as Wednesday.
The Catalan club are reportedly considering unveiling Rodri during the Joan Gamper Trophy against Egyptian side Al Ahly at Spotify Camp Nou.
