According to a report from Daily Post Nigeria, on Thursday October 29, 2026, Ghana, Venezuela, Brazil and North Korea have secured places in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after progressing from their Round of 16 matches.
Ghana advanced after a tense encounter with Argentina ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The teams could not be separated during the match, so the contest was decided by a penalty shoot-out, which Ghana won to keep its tournament hopes alive.
Venezuela also booked a quarter-final place, defeating Germany 1-0 in a closely fought match. North Korea recorded the most convincing victory of the day, overwhelming tournament hosts Morocco 6-0 to move into the next round.
Brazil’s match against Poland proved especially dramatic. Both sides scored three times, leaving the score level at 3-3 after regulation time. Brazil then held its nerve in the shoot-out, winning 8-7 to complete the list of four teams that have qualified so far.
The remaining quarter-final spots will be determined by the other Round of 16 fixtures.
Nigeria are set to face Mexico, while China will meet France. Spain will also compete for a place in the next round when it takes on the United States. Each of those teams will be aiming to join the four nations already through.
