EPL Table After Saturday's Matches

According to a report by BBC Sports on Saturday, October 17, 2026, the English Premier League table experienced several changes following the conclusion of Saturday's fixtures, with Manchester City extending their advantage at the summit while Chelsea and Liverpool strengthened their positions in the race for European qualification.

Five Premier League encounters took place on Saturday, producing important results that influenced both the upper and lower sections of the standings.

Manchester City maintained their remarkable unbeaten start to the campaign after overcoming Ipswich Town 3-2 in an entertaining encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were among the goalscorers, with the Norwegian striker scoring twice to help City register their seventh consecutive league victory.

The result increased Manchester City's points tally to 21, leaving them six points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who have played one game fewer.

Chelsea also made significant progress after securing a comfortable 2-0 away victory against Everton.

Pedro Neto delivered an impressive performance, scoring both goals to ensure Xabi Alonso's team returned home with maximum points.

The victory moved Chelsea into fourth position with 13 points, placing them level with third-placed Brighton, although the latter have a superior goal difference.

Liverpool also recorded an important victory after defeating Brentford 2-1 in a closely contested encounter.

The Reds recovered from a difficult first half to secure all three points, with Alexander Isak scoring the winning goal.

Liverpool now occupy fifth position with 12 points, just one point behind Chelsea and Brighton.

Meanwhile, Fulham ended their difficult run of results by defeating Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi scored the decisive goal, helping Fulham secure their first league victory of the season.

The result lifted Fulham to 16th position with five points, providing encouragement in their battle to move away from the relegation places.

Aston Villa also enjoyed a successful outing after recording a narrow 1-0 victory against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Following Saturday's results, Manchester City remain first with 21 points, while Arsenal occupy second position with 15 points.

Brighton sit third with 13 points, followed by Chelsea in fourth with 13 points and Liverpool in fifth with 12 points.

Brentford and Everton occupy sixth and seventh positions respectively, having collected 10 points each.

Leeds United are eighth with nine points, while Hull City and Ipswich Town complete the top ten with nine points apiece.

Newcastle United occupy 11th position with eight points, followed by Aston Villa in 12th with the same tally.

Crystal Palace sit 13th with seven points, while Manchester United remain 14th with six points from six matches.

Coventry City occupy 15th position with six points, followed by Fulham and Nottingham Forest, who have five points each.

Sunderland are 18th with four points, while Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur occupy the final two positions with three points each.

Attention will now turn to Sunday's fixtures, when Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest hoping to reduce Manchester City's advantage.

Manchester United will also face Leeds United at Elland Road, with Michael Carrick's side seeking a victory that could improve their position in the standings.

With several important fixtures still outstanding, the Premier League table could witness further changes before the conclusion of matchweek seven.
