EPL Table After Manchester United Lost 4:1 And Barcelona Lost 4:2

According to a report by BBC Sport on Monday, October 19, 2026, Manchester City were leading the English Premier League standings, with Arsenal and Brighton occupying second and third positions respectively. Meanwhile, Manchester United's 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como and Barcelona's 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain have attracted considerable attention across European football.

Manchester United endured a disappointing evening at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, where Como delivered an impressive performance against Michael Carrick's side. Nico Paz played a crucial role in the victory, scoring twice and contributing an assist as the Italian club exposed several defensive weaknesses in the visitors' performance.

Joshua Zirkzee managed to score a late consolation goal for Manchester United after being set up by substitute Amad Diallo. However, the goal did little to change the outcome, as United suffered another setback in their European campaign.

Barcelona also experienced a difficult night in continental competition, losing 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. The defeat ended their unbeaten start to the season across all competitions, with the French champions demonstrating their attacking strength to secure an important victory.

Despite the disappointing results, neither Champions League fixture had a direct impact on the English Premier League table, as domestic standings are determined exclusively by results in league matches.

According to the Premier League standings published by NBC Sports on October 19, Manchester City occupied first place with 21 points from seven matches. Arsenal followed in second position with 16 points, while Brighton also had 16 points but ranked third.

Chelsea occupied fourth place with 13 points, while Liverpool were fifth with 12 points. Brentford, Leeds United and Everton completed the next three positions, with each club recording 10 points.

Manchester United remained in 13th position with seven points from seven matches. Their domestic record consisted of one victory, four draws and two defeats, leaving them with a goal difference of zero.

The loss to Como did not alter United's Premier League points or position. They were scheduled to face Bournemouth on October 25, offering another opportunity to improve their domestic performance and move higher in the standings.

Barcelona's situation is separate because they compete in Spain's La Liga, where their domestic position depends on their league results.

Ultimately, the European defeats suffered by Manchester United and Barcelona have no direct influence on the Premier League table. United must concentrate on collecting more domestic points, while Barcelona will seek to recover in their Spanish league fixtures and continue competing in Europe.
