According to a report by Daily Mail on Wednesday October 28, 2026, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany reportedly dislocated his shoulder after collapsing during a training session at the club's training ground, with doctors continuing to investigate the cause of his health scare.
The 40-year-old has been absent from the touchline since Bayern's Champions League draw against Arsenal last week. According to reports, he collapsed at the training ground five days ago and was subsequently taken to a hospital in Munich for treatment.
German outlet BILD reported that Kompany also suffered seizures after falling to the ground. However, the report stated that doctors had ruled out serious conditions, including a heart attack and stroke, while investigations into the cause of the incident continued.
Kompany remains in hospital and is not expected to return to the dugout for several weeks as he focuses on his recovery.
Bayern have received encouraging updates about the former Manchester City captain's condition, with interim manager Aaron Danks revealing that he was in good spirits.
Speaking on Tuesday, Danks said: "It looks like he's getting better every day. That's positive. But there is no major news regarding his diagnosis or his return to work."
England captain Harry Kane also provided a positive update after revealing that Kompany had called him to congratulate him following his Ballon d'Or triumph.
Kane said his manager told him he was feeling better and appeared to be on the mend, although he stressed the importance of allowing him enough time to rest.
The Bayern striker added that Kompany was eager to return to the training ground and the touchline but needed to prioritise his health.
Earlier reports had suggested that Kompany was dealing with a viral infection that had caused complications involving old scar tissue in his hip. However, it remains unclear whether that issue was connected to his collapse.
There have also been reported concerns among club insiders about the manager's demanding workload, with suggestions that he has been sleeping too little, eating irregularly and consuming excessive amounts of coffee. These concerns have not been established as the cause of his medical episode.
In his absence, Danks will continue overseeing Bayern as they prepare for a challenging run of fixtures, including matches against Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Mainz.
Bayern have made a strong start to the season and remain at the top of the Bundesliga, but the club will be hoping Kompany makes a full recovery before returning to his managerial duties.
For now, the priority remains his health, with further clarity on his condition and potential return date still awaited.
