Manchester United have received an update on AC Milan striker Goncalo Ramos amid reports linking the Italian club with a potential move for Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the January transfer window.
According to a report by FootballTransfers on Sunday, 18 October 2026, Ramos has made a slow start to life at Milan following his €73.1 million (£61.6 million) move from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.
The 25-year-old was signed as a major attacking reinforcement, but his early performances have reportedly fallen short of expectations, with the Portuguese forward managing two goals and one assist in Serie A.
Ramos scored against Venezia and Red Bull Salzburg, while also providing an assist for Adrien Rabiot in Milan's victory over Lecce.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Andrea Ramazzotti believes the striker must improve his finishing if he is to justify the club's significant investment.
“So far Goncalo has underwhelmed; in the league, he has only found the back of the net against Venezia (his only goal at San Siro),” Ramazzotti said.
He added that Ramos had worked hard for the team but struggled to find opportunities suited to his preferred style of play.
Despite the criticism, the journalist suggested that the striker's recent European goal and international performances could help him build momentum during the coming weeks.
The situation comes as Milan are reportedly being linked with Manchester United forward Zirkzee, who has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international has yet to make a single start for United this season, despite Benjamin Sesko being sidelined with a shin injury.
Zirkzee joined Manchester United from Bologna in July 2024 but has found goals difficult to come by, scoring nine times in 81 appearances for the Premier League club.
His limited involvement has fuelled speculation about a possible departure, although the reported interest from Milan remains uncertain.
For United, Ramos' struggles in Italy provide context to the potential transfer situation, but they do not necessarily indicate that Milan will make a formal move for Zirkzee.
