Tanzania's national team, the Taifa Stars, are expected to arrive in Uyo on Sunday as they begin their preparations for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Nigeria's Super Eagles.
According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Tanzanian side have planned an early trip to Nigeria ahead of their matchday three encounter, with head coach Miguel Gamondi keen to give his players sufficient time to adapt to the environment and prepare for the difficult challenge.
According to The Citizen, the delegation will arrive in Uyo several days before the match as they look to make the necessary preparations for their away fixture against the Super Eagles.
Gamondi has already named a 24-man squad for Tanzania's upcoming double-header against Nigeria.
The selection consists of 12 players from domestic clubs and another 12 who are currently playing abroad, providing the coach with a combination of locally based and foreign-based talents.
The Tanzanian manager will be hoping the additional time in Nigeria allows his players to work on their tactical approach, improve their understanding and build the necessary confidence ahead of the encounter.
Nigeria are scheduled to welcome the Taifa Stars to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13.
The Super Eagles will be determined to take advantage of playing in front of their home supporters and secure an important victory in the qualifying campaign.
However, Tanzania will also be aiming to produce a strong performance and avoid defeat as they look to put themselves in a favourable position before the return fixture.
The two nations will face each other again in the matchday four encounter in Dar es Salaam, scheduled to take place four days after the first meeting.
Both fixtures are expected to play an important role in determining the teams' chances of progressing towards qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Gamondi will therefore hope that his team's early arrival in Uyo gives them enough time to prepare effectively for Nigeria, who will be equally determined to secure a convincing result on home soil.
