Liverpool Lead Race For Real Madrid Midfield Target With €118 Million Fee

According to a report by Madrid Universal on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Liverpool are reportedly in a stronger position than Real Madrid to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott ahead of the January transfer window.

A report from the Daily Mail, relayed by Bernabeu Digital, suggests that Liverpool are currently leading the pursuit of the England international, while Real Madrid continue to monitor his situation without making a decisive move.

Scott has attracted growing interest from several clubs following his performances for Bournemouth. However, the Premier League side's reported €118 million valuation could make negotiations difficult for potential suitors, particularly Real Madrid, who are understood to be cautious about entering an expensive transfer battle.

Liverpool are believed to have a promising opportunity to pursue the midfielder if discussions progress in the coming months. The club are assessing their options as they consider potential additions to strengthen their squad, and Scott has emerged as a player who could attract serious interest.

The midfielder's future at Bournemouth has also become a talking point amid reports that he is interested in taking the next step in his career. He has reportedly turned down the possibility of extending his current contract, raising questions about how long he will remain at the club.

Chelsea are also monitoring the situation after making lower offers during the summer transfer window. However, Bournemouth's high valuation has made it difficult for interested clubs to reach an agreement.

The €118 million asking price represents a substantial financial commitment, meaning Liverpool and Chelsea may need to reconsider their approaches before making further moves. Whether Bournemouth are prepared to lower their demands could play an important role in determining Scott's future.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have not abandoned their interest in the midfielder. The Spanish giants are continuing to assess potential midfield reinforcements as they look for players capable of improving their creativity, control and overall balance in the middle of the pitch.

Scott's technical ability and potential make him an appealing option for the Spanish club. Nevertheless, Madrid appear unwilling to rush into negotiations while Bournemouth maintain their reported asking price.

Manager Jose Mourinho has also experimented with Arda Guler playing alongside Aurelien Tchouameni in a double pivot, offering the team another possible midfield arrangement as the club evaluates its long-term plans.

Real Madrid could reconsider their position if Bournemouth become willing to negotiate a lower fee. However, delaying a decision could allow Liverpool or another interested club to move ahead in the race.

For now, Liverpool appear to have the advantage, but the situation could change as the January transfer window approaches. Scott's future will likely depend on Bournemouth's financial demands, the player's ambitions and which club is prepared to make the strongest move.
