UCL: Man City Superstar Wins MOTM Award After His Stunning Hat-trick Tonight

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Tuesday October 20, 2026, Phil Foden produced an outstanding performance as Manchester City secured a convincing 5-1 victory over AEK Athens in their European encounter on Tuesday.

The England international scored a hat-trick and provided an assist to inspire City's dominant display at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden was instrumental in City's attacking play, showcasing his clinical finishing, intelligent movement and creativity throughout the contest. His contributions helped the hosts establish control and recover comfortably after AEK threatened to make the match competitive in the second half.

Manchester City started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute through Elliot Anderson, who reacted quickly to score from a rebound after Enzo Fernandez struck the crossbar with a free kick. Foden continued to influence the game with his movement and delivery as City searched for another goal.

His first goal arrived in the 34th minute when Rico Lewis picked him out inside the penalty area. Foden showed composure to finish into the roof of the net, doubling City's advantage and giving the hosts a comfortable position before half-time.

AEK Athens reduced the deficit seven minutes after the restart through Stavro Pilo, who converted a defence-splitting pass in the 52nd minute. However, Foden responded by helping City regain control of the contest.

In the 57th minute, the midfielder delivered an excellent pass to Rayan Cherki, who finished into the bottom-left corner to restore City's two-goal advantage. The assist highlighted Foden's vision and ability to create opportunities for his teammates in dangerous areas.

Foden then scored his second goal of the evening in the 65th minute. Rico Lewis supplied the pass, allowing the England international to find space inside the penalty area before guiding a first-time finish into the top-left corner.

He completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute after Ryan McAidoo set him up with an inviting pass. Foden calmly tapped the ball into an empty net to make it 5-1 and cap an exceptional individual performance.

His three goals and assist made him the decisive figure in City's emphatic victory. Foden's finishing, creativity and intelligent positioning consistently troubled the visitors, earning him the Man of the Match award after an impressive display.
