According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday October 21, 2026, Lille defender Alexsandro Ribeiro has admitted that facing Victor Osimhen is always a difficult challenge as he prepares to come up against the Nigerian striker in Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League encounter against Galatasaray.

The Brazilian centre-back is anticipating a demanding contest against the Super Eagles forward, whose impressive performances this season have made him one of Galatasaray's most important attacking players.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Alexsandro acknowledged Osimhen's qualities and expressed excitement about the opportunity to test himself against the prolific striker.

"Playing against Victor Osimhen is always difficult," Alexsandro said. "I've already played a friendly match against him. It's going to be a battle tomorrow, but it's going to be great too."

Osimhen has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, registering six goals and three assists in seven appearances, according to the report.

His combination of pace, physical strength, intelligent movement and clinical finishing has made him a major threat to opposition defenders, with Galatasaray relying heavily on his ability to influence matches in the final third.

The Nigerian striker's performances have also attracted attention ahead of the meeting with Lille, as the French side prepare to deal with his attacking threat.

However, despite his strong overall numbers this season, Osimhen is yet to open his Champions League scoring account in the current campaign.

The 27-year-old has also endured a quieter spell in recent outings, failing to register either a goal or an assist against Barcelona and Gençlerbirliği.

Wednesday's encounter therefore presents an opportunity for the former Lille forward to rediscover his scoring touch and make an important contribution to Galatasaray's European campaign.

Galatasaray will be eager to secure their first Champions League victory of the season, and Osimhen's contribution could prove crucial to their hopes of achieving that objective.

His ability to occupy defenders, win aerial duels and create opportunities for teammates makes him a constant concern for opposition backlines, even when he is unable to find the net.

For Alexsandro and his Lille teammates, containing the Nigerian international will require concentration, physical commitment and effective defensive coordination.

Allowing Osimhen too much space inside the penalty area could prove costly, particularly given his ability to convert chances from difficult positions.

Lille will therefore need to limit the service reaching the striker while remaining alert to his movement and runs behind the defensive line.

The meeting also carries an interesting personal dimension, as Osimhen previously played for Lille before moving on in his career. The Nigerian will now return to face his former club's domestic rivals in a European contest that could have significant implications for Galatasaray.
