According to a report by Barca Universal on Friday October 16, 2026, Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has earned a place in UEFA’s Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday 2 following his impressive performance in the 4-1 victory over Galatasaray.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane also made the selection after continuing his excellent goalscoring form in Europe.

Yamal played a crucial role in Barcelona’s convincing win, contributing directly to both goals that helped Hansi Flick’s team establish control after the break. His performance further highlighted his growing influence in the final third as the Catalan giants secured an important result.

Kane also received recognition after extending his remarkable scoring streak to nine consecutive Champions League appearances. The England international found the net during Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw against Viking and contributed to his team’s third goal.

UEFA’s team was selected by a panel of technical observers who assessed the outstanding individual performances from the second matchday of Europe’s premier club competition. Both Yamal and Kane continue to attract attention amid discussions surrounding the Ballon d’Or race.

However, neither player claimed the matchday’s individual MVP award. That honour went to Bradley Barcola, who impressed during Liverpool’s reported 6-3 victory over LASK.

The French forward emerged as one of the standout performers of the matchday, earning recognition for his contribution to the result.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha also secured a place in the Team of the Week following his influential display against Manchester City. His performance helped him stand out among the competition’s top performers.

Meanwhile, Nicolo Tresoldi earned recognition after scoring a hat-trick in Club Brugge’s victory over Inter at San Siro. The forward, who was previously linked with Barcelona, impressed with his finishing to secure a place among UEFA’s selected forwards.

Yamal’s inclusion further underlines his importance to Barcelona as Flick’s side continues its Champions League campaign.
