WSL Table After Man United Won 3-1

BBC Sport reported on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Manchester United Women defeated Charlton Athletic Women 3-1 after an impressive first-half performance helped them establish a commanding advantage.

Goals from Ella Toone, Andrea Medina and Julia Zigiotti Olme secured the victory for United, although Leah Davidson managed to score for Charlton during the opening stages.

United started the encounter brightly, with Toone breaking the deadlock in the sixth minute. The midfielder created space on the left side of the penalty area before unleashing a right-footed shot into the top-right corner to give the visitors an early lead.

Four minutes later, Medina doubled United's advantage. Lundkvist delivered an accurate cross into the penalty area, and Medina converted the opportunity with a right-footed finish from the centre of the box to put her side 2-0 ahead.

Charlton quickly reduced the deficit through Davidson in the 13th minute. After receiving a pass from Hutton, the forward struck a left-footed effort into the bottom-left corner, giving the home team renewed belief.

Despite conceding, Manchester United continued to create dangerous opportunities. Zigiotti Olme came close to scoring in the 15th minute when her effort from a corner struck the crossbar, while Terland saw another attempt blocked during the same period of attacking pressure.

United restored their two-goal advantage in the 31st minute when Zigiotti Olme found the back of the net. The midfielder collected a pass from Park and finished with a composed right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner, making the score 3-1.

Charlton showed greater resistance in the second half, with goalkeeper Whitehouse making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline respectable. She prevented Terland from scoring in the 64th minute and had also denied Janssen's long-range attempt earlier in the half. A minute later, Toone nearly added another goal, but her shot from the left side of the box went narrowly wide.

In the 69th minute, United brought on Schüller and Awujo in an effort to manage the game and preserve their lead. Schüller almost made an immediate impact, but her left-footed shot in the 77th minute struck the right post after Park provided the assist.

Both teams continued to search for further goals as the match approached its conclusion, but neither side was able to find another breakthrough. Manchester United therefore finished with a 3-1 win, having taken advantage of their first-half opportunities and maintained their lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
