According to a report published by BBC Sport on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Real Madrid claimed an emphatic 4-1 win against RB Leipzig in their UEFA Champions League encounter, delivering an outstanding display of attacking football. The Spanish club took a first-half lead before scoring three more goals after the break to complete a convincing victory.
Leipzig began the match with attacking intent, as Romulo Cardoso and Antonio Nusa created early problems for Madrid's defence. However, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois responded with important saves to deny the German side. Madrid gradually settled into the game, while Vinicius Junior tested Maarten Vandevoordt at the other end before halftime.
The breakthrough arrived in the 43rd minute when Bernardo Silva capitalised on a rebound inside Leipzig's penalty area and scored from close range. The goal rewarded Madrid's growing dominance and ensured they went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
Madrid maintained their momentum after the restart and increased their lead seven minutes into the second half. Mbappe headed the ball down into a dangerous position, and Guler took advantage of the opportunity by reacting quickly and sending his shot beyond Vandevoordt in the 52nd minute.
Mbappe had an opportunity to extend Madrid's advantage three minutes later but failed to convert. Leipzig subsequently tried to get back into the contest, yet they struggled to find a way past Courtois and Madrid's disciplined defensive line.
The French striker made amends in the 83rd minute by scoring Madrid's third goal. After receiving a pass from Diomande, Mbappe created space near the edge of the penalty area and struck an excellent effort into the right corner, leaving the Leipzig goalkeeper with little chance.
Despite trailing by three goals, Leipzig continued fighting and managed to score in the 85th minute. Baumgartner set up Gomis inside the box, and the forward finished calmly past Courtois to bring the score to 3-1.
Their hopes of mounting a comeback were quickly diminished when Madrid scored again just two minutes later. Diomande finished off an assist from Brahim Diaz with a superb first-time strike into the top-left corner, restoring Madrid's three-goal lead at 4-1.
The Spanish giants remained dangerous in the closing stages, with Espi narrowly missing an opportunity to increase the margin during stoppage time. Leipzig were unable to find another goal before the final whistle, as Madrid completed an impressive Champions League performance with a commanding victory.
