LaLiga Table After Friday’s Fixture

According to a report by BBC SPORT on Friday October 23, 2026, Alaves rescued a late 1-1 draw against Malaga, after Aitor Manas scored an 89th-minute equaliser to deny the visitors victory.

Malaga had taken the lead through Adrian Nino in the first half, but the hosts produced a determined late response to claim a share of the points.

The visitors started confidently and controlled possession during the opening stages. Alaves struggled to create clear-cut opportunities as Malaga maintained their defensive organisation and looked for openings in the opposition's half.

Alaves threatened through Nahuel Tenaglia, who attempted a long-range effort in the ninth minute but sent his shot narrowly wide of the left post. Malaga responded by maintaining their passing rhythm and creating opportunities through David Larrubia and Adrian Nino.

Carlos Dotor came close to putting Malaga ahead in the 40th minute, but his effort from inside the penalty area sailed over the crossbar. The visitors eventually broke the deadlock in the 44th minute when Nino found the net, with referee Carlos Muniz confirming the goal after a VAR review.

Alaves returned for the second half determined to restore parity. Manager Quique Sanchez Flores introduced Hugo Novoa Ramos, Denis Suarez and Yusi to strengthen the team's attacking approach. However, Malaga continued to threaten, with Antonio Sivera producing an excellent save to deny Jose Salinas in the 69th minute.

The hosts also came close through Toni Martinez, whose effort was brilliantly stopped by Alfonso Herrero. Lucas Boye subsequently struck the left post with a long-range attempt in the 81st minute as Alaves increased the pressure.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 89th minute when substitute Aitor Manas reacted quickest to a rebound inside the penalty area and fired the ball into the net. The equaliser sparked renewed hope among the home supporters, who had watched their team push relentlessly for a breakthrough.

Boye struck the left post again in stoppage time, but Alaves could not find a winning goal. Despite late pressure and five additional minutes, the contest finished 1-1, leaving both teams to settle for a point after an entertaining encounter.
