Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has shared the story of how he met his Moroccan wife, Hafida, more than three decades ago, revealing that their love story began with an unexpected encounter at a music store.
Speaking during a recent appearance on The Play Zone podcast, Oliseh explained that he was shopping for an R&B music CD in Tong, a location approximately 30 minutes from his residence, when he noticed Hafida entering the store.
According to the football legend, heavy rainfall had interrupted her bicycle ride, prompting her to seek shelter inside the shop while browsing through the available music.
Recalling the experience, Oliseh said, “The Moroccan woman I married then was about the best option I had then. I go buy CD for Tong that is 30 minutes away from my place, it was during the summer,”
He further explained that Hafida immediately caught his attention, prompting him to approach her with a compliment about her appearance.
Describing his reaction when he first saw her, the former midfielder stated, “Then I saw her, and I said to myself that this one can’t go. Then I said to her how come you’re this beautiful?”
That spontaneous expression of admiration marked the beginning of a relationship that has endured for more than 30 years.
Oliseh and Hafida have remained together since 1994 and have two children, Denzel and Shanice.
Throughout their marriage, Hafida has stood by the former footballer's side during different stages of his professional journey, including his playing career in Europe and his subsequent transition into football management and analysis.

At the international level, he captained the Super Eagles and contributed to the country's football history before moving into coaching.
He later took charge of the Nigerian national team as head coach, adding another chapter to his involvement in the sport.
