LIV 0-1 ARS: Match Review And Updated English Premier League Table

According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, November 1, 2026, Arsenal secured a historic 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield to end their long wait for a Premier League win at the stadium and return to the top of the table.

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal as Mikel Arteta's side recorded their first league victory at Anfield in 14 years, ending a run of 13 consecutive Premier League matches without a win at Liverpool's home ground, during which they recorded five draws and eight defeats.

Arsenal started the encounter with encouraging possession but initially struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. David Raya was forced to react quickly to prevent Bradley Barcola from getting through on goal during a Liverpool counter-attack.

However, the visitors broke the deadlock with their first meaningful opportunity when Declan Rice delivered an excellent cross into the penalty area. Havertz arrived at the far post to convert the midfielder's delivery and give Arsenal a crucial advantage.

Liverpool attempted to respond immediately, but Barcola failed to make the most of an opportunity after a loose touch from Ezri Konsa allowed him to threaten the Arsenal defence. Rice subsequently intervened to prevent further danger.

The Gunners nearly doubled their advantage when Noni Madueke attempted to send a pass across goal, but Jurrien Timber inadvertently blocked the delivery. Liverpool gradually increased the pressure and came close to finding an equaliser. Raya made an important intervention to prevent Alexander Isak from turning Virgil van Dijk's header into the net.

The hosts continued pushing forward, with Florian Wirtz striking the crossbar from a free-kick before Alexis Mac Allister wasted another opportunity by heading over from a promising position. Arsenal maintained their narrow advantage at the interval despite Liverpool's growing pressure.

After the restart, Isak missed another opportunity to equalise, firing over after receiving a pass from Milos Kerkez. Arsenal subsequently managed to slow the tempo of the contest, while Alisson produced an excellent save to deny Christos Tzolis, turning his curling effort around the post.

Tensions increased towards the closing stages, with Mac Allister receiving a yellow card following an altercation with Martin Odegaard. Madueke also avoided further punishment after moving his head towards the Argentine at close range. Liverpool could not find a breakthrough as Arsenal held on to secure all three points.

The victory was Arsenal's 17th in their last 20 Premier League matches and their 300th away win in the competition, making them only the second club after Manchester United to reach that milestone.
