Chelsea's Morgan Rogers produced an outstanding individual performance in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Manchester United, scoring the decisive goal with an impressive solo effort that highlighted his technical ability and confidence.
According to a report by Football London on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the England international took advantage of Manchester United's defensive weaknesses by driving into the penalty area before calmly lifting the ball over goalkeeper Senne Lammens to give Chelsea the lead.
The goal took Rogers' tally to six in all competitions this season, alongside four assists. Since arriving from Aston Villa, the 24-year-old has made an impressive start at Stamford Bridge, showing why Chelsea were willing to spend a record £117 million to secure his services.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher and former Everton defender Seamus Coleman discussed Rogers' performances. Coleman, in particular, compared the Chelsea attacker to former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli because of his movement and ability to exploit spaces in the opposition defence.
All five of Rogers' Premier League goals have come from slightly central positions, with his finishes generally taken from distances between six and 20 yards. Despite operating in similar areas, however, he has demonstrated considerable variety in the way he scores.
Carragher highlighted this quality, explaining that the different techniques behind his goals reflect his ability as a player. His examples included a left-footed finish against Hull, a right-footed volley against Arsenal and his recent solo effort against Manchester United, which showcased his dribbling and composure in front of goal.
Coleman also praised Rogers' intelligence in finding dangerous spaces, explaining that his attacking movement reminded him of Dele Alli. The former Everton captain believes full-backs and right-sided centre-backs must communicate effectively to prevent Rogers from exploiting gaps between defensive lines.
Referring to the type of runs Alli regularly made during his time at Tottenham, Coleman said Rogers reminded him of movements he previously had to defend against.
Chelsea supporters will also remember Alli's remarkable brace against the Blues in January 2017, which ended their 13-game winning streak. Rogers is now showing similar qualities by identifying and exploiting spaces that can cause serious problems for opposing defenders.
